The Importance of Not Being Idle

There are two kinds of people in the world, and they can be found most commonly in grocery stores.  First, there are the people who shop for their own groceries and walk around with their heads down and their mouths shut, focuses solely on the task at hand, whether it be finding the brand of cereal that their kids love or the bag of chips that they love so much.  Then there are observant people.  People who decide to use their senses, and look around and take in their environment.  People who don’t live solely in their own self-sufficient worlds and live within themselves.
There’s no question that people set up boundaries.  It’s because, to some extent, we need our own personal space.  However, don’t let those boundaries hinder the opportunities that we all have to form relationships and communities.  OBSERVE the world around you.  See if someone needs help.  See if you can reach out to someone.  We live in a world where people are so hyper-focused on their own goals, and are usually looking down at their smartphones.  LOOK UP AND OBSERVE.  You never know what might happen.  Give someone a smile.  Lend someone a hand.

Observe the world around you.  It’s the greatest service that you can do for yourself and for your community.
